Tryouts FOR THE 2018 SEASON are now OPEN
Tryouts for the 2018 season have just been opened. Please make sure you register for tryouts so our coaching & recruiting staff has you on file.
We are the Seattle Majestics. We are a group of female athletes driven by the desire to compete, challenge ourselves, learn the game of football, and support one another. We are a team and family first, individuals second. We continuously push each other to new levels so we can promote the sport of women’s tackle football, empower women everywhere, and of course… go for that championship crown.
Join us and play for one of the most successful women’s tackle football programs in the country. Learn more about the game of football, and challenge yourself to levels you’ve never reached before. It’s time to sport your name on the back of a Majestics jersey and become a part of the female football family. Make the leap, you won’t regret it.
When are TRYOUTS?
There will be 3-4 separate opportunities to tryout for the team for the 2018 season:
Over 100 women tried out for the team last year- 53 players were accepted onto the active roster.
How much do tryouts cost?
Each tryout costs $10 if you are a rookie. If you have played with the Majestics for a season before, you do not have to pay for tryouts. You must register for at least one set of tryouts in order to play.
How ARE PLAYERS evaluated at tryouts?
Potential players will be evaluated based on agility and overall athletic ability, offensive and defensive skills, passion, and teachability. If you don’t know much about football that’s completely ok – it’s more about your willingness to learn and ability to learn quickly.
What is required if I do make the team?
Players must attend each practice every week during the season. These practices occur 3 times a week: Mondays from 7 to 9 PM, Wednesdays from 7 to 9 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM, starting in January 2018. All practices are mandatory unless excused with prior approvals from the team’s general manager.
Players will also be required to learn the playbook, follow all rules of the Women’s Football Alliance, sign an injury waiver fee, and be involved in the team off the field at things such as fundraisers, community events, and chalk talk sessions. There is also a Team Camp that will be held one weekend in February.
Lastly, players are required to pay player dues each season to pay for things such as team travel, field costs, referee costs, and team uniforms. Player fees last year were set at $900. This includes rookies’ uniforms, as well as warm up gear.
